El principito/ The little prince

Le regalé este dibujo a una amiga que se ha ido a vivir hace poco a Canadá. Le encanta El Principito, de hecho tiene un montón de ejemplares del libro en distintas ediciones e idiomas. El dibujo original está dibujado en tinta china negra. Los toques de color los he dado a posteriori para subirlo a este post.

I gave this drawing to a friend of mine who is living now in Canada. She really loves this book and she owns a lot of different editions even in different languages. The original drawing is made in indian ink, the little touches of colour were added afterwards to be uploaded in this blog.

Mi primer libro recopilatorio de viñetas ha tenido mucho éxito entre el público lector habitual de los diarios en los que colaboro. La difusión fue grande pues se hizo una tirada de 18.000 ejemplares y muchos de ellos tuve que dedicarlos: para ello hice unos garabatos rápidos en las páginas de guarda y en algún caso me dio tiempo a escanarlos antes de entregarselo a su futuro propietario.
Os dejo en este post algunos de los dibujos que improvisé a modo de dedicatoria.
(obviamente los dibujos son en ByN, pero a estos como los tenía escaneados le s he dado color más tarde porque me apetecía) :-)))

My first editorialcartoons recopilatory book has been a real success among the readers of the newspapers in which I collaborate with. I had to sign a lot of them and make some dedications, so I did some quick doodles in many books (in some cases I had the time to scan these drawings
before giving the books back to their owners). Obviously the dedications are in B&W, but later on, after having been scanned, I put some colours on them because I felt like doing it.

Sombras /shadows

Después de ver un par de páginas del álbum "Le Marquis D'anaon", de M. Bonhomme , me lancé de cabeza a dibujar inspirado por su paleta. También tenía en la cabeza mientras dibujaba este bocetillo una viñeta genial de la serie "los repartidores de cerveza" de PAU, y como no, la nieve de Bill Watterson. Javi dice que además se puede ver también en el dibujo un poco de Uesugui. Bueno, el caso es que hice dos versiones , nos sorprendió ver cómo unas simples sombras ( o la ausencia de ellas) son capaces de modificar el "tono" de una ilustración: en una de ellas hay un sendero y el dibujo es más sosegado y placentero. En la otra, la sensación varía por completo: la soledad y el frío entran en escena, la ausencia de camino sugiere una estado de ánimo más inquietante.

After having seen a couple of pages from the album "Le Marquis D'anaon", by M. Bonhomme, I started to draw inspired by his colour palette. While drawing I had also in mind a cool strip from PAU's series "Los repartidores de cerveza", and of course, the snow of Bill Watterson. Javi says that a little Uesugui can also be seen in this drawing. Well, the thing is that I made two versions, and we both were surprised when we saw how some simple shadows (or the absence of them) are able to modify the "tone" of the ilustration: in one of them there is a path and the drawing is calmed and easy. In the other one, the feeling varies completely: solitude and cold enter in scene, the lack of the way suggests a disquieting unconfortable mood.

¡Bienvenido ÁLVARO! / wellcome ÁLVARO!

El 10 de agosto a las 10:40 de la mañana mi mujer y yo tuvimos a nuestro primer hijo: un chaval canijo y arrugado llamado Álvaro, que ansioso por ver mundo decidió salir antes de lo previsto :-)))))))))) . El parto se adelantó unas tres semanas, con lo que nos ha pillado un poco desprevenidos. La madre y el niño se encuentran bien, ambos están sanos y el parto fue perfecto, sin compicaciones y bastante rápido (lo que no quiere decir "sencillo", porque dar a luz es muuuuuuuuuy complicado). Y yo, qué puedo deciros... yo estoy hecho un flan. De momento nuestra vida se ha puesto un poco pastas arriba, llevamos unos días de bendita locura y, eso sí, estamos realmente agotados... pero dentro de poco y con un poco de organización todo será mucho más fácil y yo seguiré trabajando al mismo ritmo que antes (o más, porque ahora tengo una razón muy importante para espabilar!)nada más, sólo quería compartir con vosotros esta buena noticia.¡Un abrazo y saludos a todos los que visitais mi website y mis blogs!.

The 10th of August at the 10:40 in the morning my wife and I brought to life our first son: a tiny and wrinkled boy named Álvaro, who anxious to see the world decided to go outside before the predicted time :-)))))))))) . The childbirth went ahead three weeks, which took us off guard. Both mother and boy are healthy and the childbirth was perfect, without complications and quite fast . And me, what can I tell you ... I'm still trembling. By the moment our life has changed a lot and we had been days of blessed madness and, yes, we are really exhausted... but soon and with a little organization everything will be much more easy and I will continue working the same as before or even more (because now I've got a good reason to go forward!)
Well, I only wanted to share this good news with you .

Another character who appeared in one of my daily editorial cartoons. I really liked it, so I felt like colouring it.

el sol, pequeño y blanco, le calentaba las mejillas

Al despertar descubrió que él se había ido en algún momento de la noche. Se vistió la falda que estaba tirada a los pies de la cama. La luz de la mañana entraba a raudales. Se recogió el pelo, recorrió el pasillo y salió al balcón. Un sol pequeño y blanco le calentaba las mejillas, cerró los ojos y sonrió.


When she woke up she realized that he had gone in the middle of the night. She put up the skirt which was thrown beside the bed. The morning light entered strongly in the house. She tied her hair back, crossed the corridor and went outside to the balcony. A small white sun warmed up her cheeks, she closed her eyes and smiled slightly.
